The Barber's Radio
One morning, Şükrü Usta’s forty-year-old radio falls silent.
For forty years the same radio has played in the shop of Şükrü Usta the barber, a master of his trade; customers come less for the haircut than for the voice on that radio. This morning the radio went quiet. The battery is in, the plug is in, but a piece is missing from inside. Uncle Rıza knows the radio is a neighborhood keepsake: Şükrü Usta got it from his wife on the night he proposed.
