The Carriage Road
Something kept for the last carriage driver’s horse goes missing on the old tour road.
The faytons, the island’s horse-drawn carriages, are long gone, but Grandpa Reşat still keeps the seat of the last one in his garden. Inside the seat was a box, and in the box, something a young girl brought his horse every day in the summer of 1996. This morning the box was empty. “That girl never came back,” Grandpa Reşat said, and said no more.
