The Gurbet Train · Case 6
My Mother's Voice
Season finale. A cassette unplayed for forty-five years, and a neighborhood.
Tonight Uncle Halil will listen to the cassette; the neighborhood has gathered in Auntie Sevim’s sitting room. But the cassette isn’t in the player, and the digital copy isn’t on Lena’s device. Both are gone. Uncle Halil didn’t get angry. “Maybe my mother isn’t ready yet,” he said. Uncle Rıza went out on his last watch.
